When you got your first car, it’s definitely possible that it was a hand-me-down car, or that it was a used vehicle, and not a brand new, hot off the line car, never been used before. On the other hand, it could very well have been a brand new car. Who knows? First cars are different for everyone. But whether or not it’s your first car, third car, or 10th car, there is always that age-old question. Should I buy a car, or lease a car?

And what a good question indeed. Obviously there are many pros and cons to either leasing a car or buying a car. We can get into that right now.

 It’s tough to say which one is the better option, or even the more cost efficient option, because both have pros and cons.

Buying a car gives you full rights and legal authority with your vehicle.

CONS:

Depending on how you like to view money, you either need to make monthly payments on a lease, or pay up front to purchase a vehicle. This could really be seen as a positive or negative depending on your stance.

Leasing means you are restricted on the number of miles you can travel.

Buying a car requires maintenance, typically more often than leasing.

Now come on, there’s no way that you could get through that list and not agree with every single point on there. We’ve all been there, and let’s face it; someday you’re going to want your own kids to feel the same way about their very first car. Maybe a car won’t be your kid’s new BFF, and let’s hope that they actually befriend real humans, but hey, it’s a good start.
